God Wants our Undivided Devotion

Judges 10-12 | Pastor Eric Hovis | 10/29/23

In this week’s message from Judges 10-12, Pastor Eric Hovis discusses how the story of Jephthah shows us that God wants our undivided devotion.

Israel forsook the Lord and did not serve him by serving the Baals and the gods of other nations. As oppression hits Israel, they turn to Jephthah for rescue. Although the Spirit of the Lord was upon Jephthah, his worship of other gods alters his understanding of the Lord - leading to tragedy.

Key takeaways:

  • Our culture influences us way more than we realize.

  • We don’t have to earn God’s favor.

  • We’re dependent on the power of God, not ourselves.
