Pray for: Missional Urgency
One of our core values at New City church is missional urgency. This exists because of local and global lostness. There are people in our neighborhoods, classes, workplaces, communities, and around the world who do not have saving faith. When God captivates our hearts with the gospel, He gives us a new identity and a new mission: to see the lost saved and to disciple them into their new identity and mission:
Pray that our hearts would be broken for the lost.
Pray for opportunities to proclaim the gospel.
Pray for courage to share the love of Jesus despite our fear and indifference.
Example Prayer:
God,
We praise You for sending Jesus to rescue us from our sin and for giving us new life and a new purpose. We praise You for the gospel—for sending Jesus to earth, living a sinless life, dying on the cross, and rising from the dead. We praise You that the Spirit of God is still saving and rescuing lost and broken people. We’re honored that You choose to use us as messengers of the greatest news on the planet—the gospel.
God, we confess our fears and worries when it comes to Your mission. We acknowledge that we don’t have the power to save—only to proclaim. Please keep us from apathy and indifference toward the mission You’ve called us to.
God, we thank You for the Spirit who encourages us, emboldens us, and fills us with courage to share the life-changing message of Jesus. Thank You for the relationships You’ve placed in our lives and for the love You’ve given us for those around us. We’re excited and expectant to see how You will use each of us in Your mission.
God, would You use us to urgently bring the message of salvation to those who are far from You but close to us? Would You embolden us and fill us with great joy as we declare the truth of the gospel? Help us to lead with love and care as we share an offensive gospel, while pleading with others to respond to Jesus in faith. Lord, we know Your mission is urgent—would You use New City Church to be effective in it?
We ask this in Jesus’s holy name, Amen.
